In the Netherlands, too, HBG is involved in the construction of an entirely new high-speed rail link between Amsterdam and Brussels. HBG is one of the consortium partners on four out of the total of seven construction contracts involved.

Just north and south of Rotterdam, the work includes three tunnels and an open tunnel box section. In the south of the Netherlands, a bridge one kilometre long is to be built spanning a river. In addition, near Breda, an existing motorway has to be re-routed slightly and widened at the same time, involving the construction of new flyovers and bridges. Preparations for these projects are currently in full swing. Work on site is due to start shortly. The HST line to Brussels is scheduled for completion in 2005. The combined contract value as far as HBG is concerned is in excess of £191 million.
